The Gloria Patri, also known as Lesser Doxology or Trinitarian Doxology, had its form fixed in the fourth century. It is used in various Christian liturgies; among the Catholics, it is a prayer of the Mass and the Rosary.

We have supplemented the text with macrons to mark etymologically long vowels.

The translation is an English version used by Catholics, Orthodox and many Protestants. Note that the phrase “world without end” is more a paraphrase than a translation. A more literal rendering is found in another version used in Eastern Orthodox prayers: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

The text’s transcription emulates the capitalis rustica, a style of the Latin alphabet that was in use in the imperial Rome and Late Antiquity for writing on papyrus or parchment with a reed pen. We made use of Hasan Guven’s typeface Vatican Rough Letters.
